We missed a lot of shots early, and so did Dunlap. We got out to a 28-15 lead. Obviously it was a pretty low scoring game. As you may remember, the same was true last year when we played Dunlap. Both years they have been able to control tempo. We got a nice burst in the fourth quarter to open a 20+ lead.
It was nice to finish with a comfortable win after needing a buzzer beating three by Jessica Lieber in the opening game of the year to beat Dunlap at our Thanksgiving Tourney.
For us, Sharron Diggins had 18 points, including 3 threes. Paige Klinck continues to be on fire from the perimeter and had 4 threes and 12 points. Also in double figure was Jessica Lieber with 10 points, 6 assists, 8 rebounds, and 4 steals- nice days work. Both Myra Diggins (10) and Sadee Hamilton (11) were in double figures with rebounds. In addition, Myra had 6 steals.
We forced a total of 28 turnovers on the day.
The great news was that junior guard, Rainee Sibley was able to play after being hurt vs. East Moline. She still experienced some discomfort but I think it is another example of the girls being so loyal to each other. You knew Rainee would want to be in there with her teammates. Thanks for being tough- Rainee!!
Playing for Dunlap is former Streaks player Lynda Clevidence. Lynda was one of my favorites, she was a 5'8" post player who would have absolutely thrived in the style we play now- athletic, strong, and played hard. Lynda's daughter is soph Morgan Erickson. Morgan had 7 points, including 1 three. Dunlap is definitely going to be a team to watch for in the future. Besides soph starter Morgan Erickson, they started two other sophs and one freshmen. Impressive!
