You don't have to sell junior Jessica Lieber on the Galesburg girls basketball team's offseason agenda.
Shoot. Shoot. And shoot some more. Make sure you're outside that 3-point arc, too.
When Lieber began her freshman year, coach Evan Massey had already been heading up the Silver Streaks for north of three decades.
Trying to recapture the glory years of five state tournaments in the late 1990s and early 2000s - which also included 18 consecutive regional titles and nine straight sectional crowns - Massey tweaked his system to emulate the wild Grinnell men's team.
"We usually played 8 or 9 and pressed full court all the time, had a fast-break," Massey said. "So when we were successful, we were pretty much always an up-tempo team. We've just taken it to a different level now."
You think? All Galesburg did last year was set a national record - boys or girls - for successful 3-point baskets, led by Jessica Howard's state-record 139 treys. Chucking up 1,476 3-pointers and making 397 - also IHSA records - paid dividends, landing Galesburg in the Class 3A Elite Eight for the first time since 2003.
