Stats

There are all sorts of stats which can be kept in sports. In basketball, you have the obvious stats of points, rebounds, turnovers, shooting pct, etc. All of the stats can give you a window into what may be the key to a team's success or their failure.

One of the stats NBA teams have gone to is looking at how the team performs while a player is on the floor. In simple terms, when a player is on the floor does the team outscore the opponent. They can also look at what is the team's shooting percentage on the floor, figuring it is a measure of a group performing together. They can look at rebound margin while a team is on the floor. Doing this is an attempt to look at the overall result while a player is playing. It obviously can be effected by who someone is playing with when they are on the floor. For example, if a player is always playing with Michael Jordan, the performance of the team may be influenced so much by Jordan that it makes the individual on the floor with them look good. That said, for our first game the results.
