Galesburg-
Sometimes it doesn’t matter how many 3-pointer you make or even how many you take in a basketball game.
It’s when you make them.
Jessica Lieber’s timing was perfect Tuesday night when she nailed a 3-pointer at the buzzer off a stolen inbounds pass by Sharron Diggins to lift the Galesburg High School girls basketball team over Dunlap 72-69 in the Silver Streaks’ season opener at Thiel Gym.
“Actually, it felt like it was the state championship the way the crowd ran out on the court and everything,” said Lieber, who erased memories of her 4-for-23 3-point shooting night that contributed to a shaky 10-for-57 performance by the Streaks. “I was a little disappointed through the first half. I couldn’t make anything.”
