Great Start- Go Streaks

We started practice with a 6:30am workout and then again with a workout this evening. It is exciting to see the energy the girls brought to practice.

This morning we just got ourselves organized with our prepractice routine and shooting routine so we could hit the ground running this evening. We also went thru our basic offensive actions at the end of our break. And of course the highlight this morning was to finish up with the Beep test. Six of our players were able to score at the "good" category with Chloe Anderson and Marisa Miller making it to level 9. While the Beep may have been the highlight of the coaches, the donuts after practice were certainly the highlight of the players.

This evening we got going again. With our three Guns, in the first half hour of practice we were able to make 600 threes, shoot 350 free throws, and do 350 of our form shooting shots. So in the first half hour we were able to have the team shoot about 2000 shots. Years ago at a clinic, I heard Phil Martelli of St. Joe's speak. He described that early in the season he had a lot of high school coaches come through watching practice. He would always ask them what other teams they had watched, and what they had learned. He said the consistent thing he heard from coaches who had watched Princeton and Coach Carrill- "they shoot the ball more than anyone in America."

We have 14 players practicing with us on the varsity level. We have 3 seniors, 8 juniors, 2 sophomores, and 1 freshmen. I don't know if we had our best first practice ever, but I do think we had one of our most enthusiastic practices ever. Players brought a lot of energy and players were tremendously supportive of each other. Great start.

And especially happy birthday to Rainee!!!
