Kevin Eastman- Boston Celtic Ass't Coach

I have had an opportunity to hear Coach Kevin Eastman speak several times. He is presently an ass't coach for the Boston Celtics. He is famous for his work with pro players in skill development (fundamentals), and as someone who understands leadership and motivation. Today he not only speaks to basketball coaches but to business leaders around the country. I would like to share some thoughts I have picked up from the 2-3 clinics I have heard him speak.

Team Requirements
1- Hard worker- this has to be the price of admission, a given.
2- Competitive
3- Committed- this is a small pct. of players, the 1%er's

Players who want to develop individual skills-
1- Cannot be bored
2- Cannot be tired

Skill Development Theory of 2
1- 2 minutes to show a skill
2- 2 weeks to get comfortable in practice with a skill
3- 2 months to perform the skill effectively in practice.

Skill Development Principle
Do more and do it faster than you think you need.
