"Gunned Down"

I heard back from Shoot A Way company yesterday, we were not selected as the winner. To be honest, I was very surprised. Having seen past winners, I thought we offered something unique and would have be a great ad for their company and the Gun. I was told we took second place and if we every wanted a Gun while I was coaching, that they would provide a $2,000 discount. That is nice but we just don't have the rest of  $3,000 to $4,5000 necessary to get a Gun.

I was told the winner was a school of 60 students that won the Louisiana state championship. I went to the Louisiana state association to see if I could figure out who the winner is. To be honest, I could not tell if it would have been the girls or the boys Louisiana state champ. In looking at the website, in Louisiana they have 7 divisions in boys and girls. Each division has a total of 28 teams in the touney. So in looking at it, we got beat out by a team that won a "state title" in a division that included only 28 schools.

Not to be a sore loser but....

I would rather win a state title than to set national record for threes made. But in terms of being recognized by a company that specializes in a shooting machine, I think the three point national record team would be more impressive. There were over 300 state champions in the USA last year, there was only one national three point record setting team.
