Kurt Kragthorpe of the Salt Lake City tribune wrote a nice piece on the things that Paul Millsap did to become an improved shooter. Here are a few thoughts from this article:
1. He studied their offense to understand where his shots were coming from.
Kragthorpe writes, "Millsap attributes his improvement to “just knowing the offense,” saying that expanding his offensive game was a product of studying Jazz power forwards of the past, Karl Malone and Boozer.
Sloan thoughts: “He recognized where the shots were going to come from, and that’s what he worked on, that’s the exciting thing from a coaching standpoint, to see how guys try to make themselves better.”
2. He understands that teammates are responsible for getting each other great shots.
Milsap: “Our team shoots a high percentage. It comes from guys helping each other get open, setting screens for each other.”
3. He worked hard on his shooting each off season.
Teammate Al Jefferson: “You could tell every offseason, he got better.”
