Biggest Turn Arounds

Yep, we are smiling tonight!!!!!
In 1980-1, we lost to UTHS at the beginning of the season 73-37. (-46 points) Later in the year we surprised UTHS by winning 59-51. That is a turn around of +54 points. For myself and for the players that was a VERY satisfying experience.

Last year we lost to Moline by score of 97-53 (-46 points). Tonight we beat Moline 62-53. That is a swing of +55 points-- that is REALLY exciting. I realize it is a different year but a swing of 55 points is very, very satisfying!

We did not play our best game. Moline chose not to let us shoot threes which allowed us to go inside and also allowed us to get to the foul line 28 times. The analogy I would use is like a football team running a spread offense but having a high rushing total. The defense chooses to spread it out and cover the pass so the team then is able to rush for big yards.

Does the System really work? One critical stat- we had 42 rebounds, they had 25 rebounds. We had 21 o-rebounds and they had 25 defense rebounds. There is a price to be paid for taking away the threes.

Some great efforts--
Myra Diggins had to fill in and play #5 when Jamie was in foul trouble. She had 8 points in the second half, including a great drive from the top.

Sadee Hamilton jammed her finger again but was adamant she was not coming out. She finished with 8 points and 12 rebounds.

Mickey Rodriguez was 3 for 3 from threes, with a back breaker late in the game.

Tai Peachey had 6 assists and Baylie Boyer had 4 assists.

Rainee Sibley at 5'3" with two o-rebounds, and Jessica Lieber diving on the floor to give us possession when we only had a two point lead.

Team Stats
FGA        55   (But 28 fta)
3's Att      23   (But 28 fta & 18 points on layups)
O-Reb      58%
Forced T.O's   21    Our press was very good early and good late but very average the rest of the nite.
Shot Differential   +4

Not our best game of the year but a good road win. There are MANY things I like about this team. But one of the things I like about this team is their enthusiasm. I think it comes from them caring about each other. After the win, after they shook hands, it was so exciting to see our players hugging the coaches and hugging each other. As hard as they have worked in the off-season and during this season, it is good to see how much they enjoy their successes.
