Motivating players is difficult. All coaches must come up with ways to encourage their players to buy into the system. Players will much more likely buy in if they believe that what you want is what's best for their game. Here are five ways to promote players to buy into your system
- Thoroughly study the game. Your players should have no doubt that you know the game inside out. Knowledge lead to respect
- Thoroughly study your system. Show your players that you know what it takes to improve within your system
- Catch them doing something right. If your players know that you believe in them, they'll be more likely to give their best effort.
- Understand that it's not only what you know but what you bring to the workouts that will create the buy in. Bring your energy, enthusiasm, your work ethic, and your interest in the players. let them see this and fee this.
- Tell players the truth. They might not like it, but they need to know where they stand and how they're doing. Tell them verbally, show them on video, and back up what you say with statistics. Communicate in a way that tells them you have their best interest in mind
